The UK strike continues to ferment, and small and medium-sized sellers suffer heavy losses

According to foreign media reports, large-scale strikes in the UK, especially the Royal Mail strike, have caused significant losses to small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK. Not only are there automatic refunds due to delayed orders, but many businesses are even forced to close their stores completely to protect their store ratings.

It is understood that online forums are now full of messages from consumers complaining about sellers' slow delivery. Sellers who are forced to choose Royal Mail due to the low average order value of their products are the hardest hit by online violence.

Others stopped operating weeks ago, and these small sellers lost the opportunity to boost sales during a critical period of the year. If this had not happened, sales on the eve of the holiday season would usually contribute the majority of the year's revenue.

The knock-on effect of falling sales will undoubtedly cause many small businesses to close in 2023, as missing out on crucial Christmas revenue would be devastating.

Much of the blame for this situation can be placed squarely on the shoulders of the CTU, with strike action by Royal Mail staff affecting services of other carriers.

However, most employees are currently doing their best to deliver mail on days they are able to work, with a growing number not only frustrated by the ongoing strike but also suffering from lost income.

However, even if sellers use other logistics companies, they will still suffer certain losses because major carriers will now advance their final shipping dates.

The following are the final delivery times of some carriers, which sellers can use as a reference:

Yodel's last delivery date is this Friday, December 16. If the parcel is to be delivered before Christmas, the carrier must receive it by Friday. This has never been the case before, as Christmas is more than a week away, which means that products sold next week will not be delivered to customers before Christmas.

DPD has not yet announced their last delivery date, but deliveries are usually delayed by 1 to 3 days depending on the situation in different regions, so to be on the safe side, it is estimated that the last delivery time in most parts of the UK may be next Tuesday at the latest.

Parcelforce is in a similar situation to Royal Mail. If you use this delivery service, you should not have much hope that your parcel will arrive on time. Their estimated last delivery date should also be Friday, but they have a backlog of millions of letters, large letters and parcels, and it is almost impossible to deliver on time.
