Amazon sets holiday season restocking deadline for sellers

According to an Amazon announcement, sellers on the platform must ship restocked products to Amazon 's fulfillment centers before November 2 so that they can be sold normally during Black Friday and Cyber ​​Monday .

 

To ensure Christmas shoppers have access to the goods they need , sellers will need to have their products in Amazon warehouses by December 1, 2022 .

 

However, Amazon’s holiday restocking restrictions make the whole thing more complicated . The conflict between sellers and Amazon is that sellers want to store enough goods at one time, while Amazon needs to consider controlling the inventory of various products under the condition of limited warehouse space.

 

Amazon ties its FBA restocking limits to a metric called the “IPI” and typically relaxes those limits in January of the following year .

 

An Amazon Seller Central page provides sales restocking dates for key U.S. holidays” and notes that the platform ’s recommended restocking dates are based on forecasts and are subject to change .

 

Interestingly, last year’s deadlines were much more lenient compared to this year’s deadlines: Last year, the Black Friday and Cyber ​​Monday restock deadlines were November 15, while the Christmas restock deadline was December 11.

 

Some sellers said they believe the deadlines are unreasonable and unrealistic given those restocking limits and the time it takes Amazon to check in inventory once it arrives at its warehouses .

 

However, Amazon has not yet responded to the sellers' feedback.
