U.S. holiday season consumer trends revealed! Multiple categories are set to see big booms

Recently, LTK, a global influencer marketing platform, released its latest research report on U.S. holiday shopping trends.

Currently, U.S. consumers continue to worry about inflation and are changing their holiday shopping plans to save money.

The holiday season is often marked by some of the most aggressive discounts and promotions. Whether it’s Black Friday or Cyber Monday, consumers are always looking for ways to save money when buying gifts . This year, 70% of consumers are looking for more deals and promotions to help them save money compared to last year.

In order to save money as much as possible, a large number of consumers will shop in advance. Data shows that 47% of consumers plan to start buying gifts from September to mid-October. Among them, 36% said that they will shop earlier this year than last year.

During the holiday season, 96% of consumers plan to shop online, and 53% of consumers said they plan to do most of their shopping online . At the same time, 86% of consumers plan to do their holiday shopping via mobile phones. Among them, nearly half of millennials plan to do most of their shopping on mobile phones .

As more consumers turn to online shopping, bloggers on social platforms are becoming more influential on consumers , now having four times the influence of celebrity posts and outranking social ads.

Shopping posts published by bloggers on social platforms have attracted a lot of attention, thus driving sales of stores on major platforms. According to statistics, 72% of consumers said they would buy products recommended by bloggers on social platforms. This figure is very high among millennials and Generation Z.

During this year's holiday shopping season, products in multiple categories will be hot sellers.

According to LTK research data, more than half of American consumers plan to spend the same or more this year than last year's holiday season. Among them, 26% of consumers plan to buy clothing and accessories as gifts, 24% plan to buy candy , food and gift baskets , 23 % plan to buy toys, and 21% plan to buy electronic products.

Many consumers will buy personal care products for themselves during the holiday season . According to statistics, 32% of consumers plan to buy beauty and personal care products . Next are electronics, candy/food, and beer/wine/spirits.

At the same time, consumers are buying items for family gatherings during the holiday season. According to LTK 's survey, candles, decorations and electronics will be hot sellers this holiday season .

Although the continued increase in inflation in the United States has caused consumers to adjust their shopping plans, they have not reduced their spending, but have turned to discounted promotional products and placed orders in advance. Sellers operating in the US market can seize the opportunity of the holiday season and layout key products in line with consumer demand.
