Shopee ranks second among Southeast Asians' favorite apps

According to a survey conducted by Ipsos on 3,500 respondents in Southeast Asian countries , the ranking of super apps in Southeast Asian countries was released, namely Grab, Shopee and Lazada.

 

according to   Ipsos said that their selection of super apps is mainly based on people's daily services, such as taxi-hailing, e-commerce, food delivery, etc., and does not include social media apps .

 

Grab , which was named the super app in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam , has an average overall index score of 63.

 

Shopee ranked second with an average overall index score of 52, followed by Lazada (42 points) and Shopee   and Lazada   All of them are e-commerce apps in Southeast Asian countries.

 

 

 

As an e-commerce APP, Shopee is deeply loved by Southeast Asian users. When evaluating the most used APPs, Shopee ranks first, and its user satisfaction and service quality are also well received.

 

In terms of monthly usage frequency, number of digital services used per month, and nominal user scores for transactions on the app, Shopee still topped the list, with Grab in second place.   Lazada followed closely behind .

 

So why are e-commerce apps so popular in Southeast Asian countries?

 

In recent years, the work and life of the people in Southeast Asia have undergone tremendous changes. Catalysed by the epidemic, digitalization is penetrating every corner of Southeast Asia at an unprecedented rate, and e-commerce has gradually begun to occupy a place in people's lives.

 

In addition, Southeast Asian countries have a large population, the number of middle-class people is also growing, people's purchasing power is gradually increasing, and their acceptance of e-commerce platforms is increasing. These are all favorable factors for the development of e-commerce platforms in Southeast Asian countries.

 

According to iPrice data comparison, the number of new online shoppers in Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand increased by 39% on March 13, 2021-2022 compared to March 13, 2019-2020.

 

At the same time, iPrice also investigated the changes in e-commerce parcel volume in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia during the peak season in 2021 (including Songkran Festival in Thailand and Ramadan in other countries). These data also fully demonstrate the enthusiasm of Southeast Asian countries for e-commerce online shopping. The report shows that Indonesia has the highest increase in parcel volume (55%), followed by Singapore (35%), Thailand (34%) and Malaysia (23%). In the past year, the parcel volume of these Southeast Asian countries has increased.

 

Compared with the mature European and American e-commerce markets, the Southeast Asian e-commerce market has huge potential. Not only that, people's consumption habits are also constantly changing, so e-commerce apps are becoming more and more popular.
