More than 1 million smart watches have been recalled and sold on multiple platforms

With the development of informatization and intelligence, electronic products are becoming more and more integrated into our daily lives, covering various aspects such as home appliances and communications. Electronic products are also hot-selling products on many e-commerce platforms.

In addition to smartphones, smart watches are also very popular among consumers. They can not only tell time and answer calls, but also have health monitoring and other functions. There are many types of electronic products on the market, but the hidden risks of quality and safety cannot be ignored. Recently, a brand of smart watches was recalled.

The smartwatches involved in this recall are composed of a 1.4-inch color LCD screen and a polyurethane strap. The colors are slate blue /burnt orange, charcoal/smoke gray, blue gray/silver gray , and a special Adidas co-branded model in ink blue and silver gray. The brand name is on the front and the model number is marked at the wristband connection. This watch can track the user's activity, heart rate and sleep.

This product is sold in offline stores in the United States, as well as the brand's official website, Target, Amazon and other e-commerce platforms. The sales period is from September 2017 to December 2021, with prices ranging from US$200 to US$330. It is manufactured in Taiwan, China.

The recall is due to the risk of overheating of lithium-ion batteries in smart watches, which poses a risk of burns. So far, at least 115 reports of battery overheating have been received in the U.S. market , and 59 international reports, including 78 reports of burns in the U.S. and 40 reports internationally .

The recall involves more than 1 million units , including about 1 million in the United States and about 693,000 units sold internationally.

Smart watches are close to the skin and can easily cause burns if they overheat. The reports received also include two third-degree burns and four second-degree burns. According to the CPSC's advice, consumers should stop using the watch immediately and contact the brand to return it for a $299 refund. The brand will also provide a 40% discount as compensation.

Electronic products are bound to encounter overheating problems, and relevant sellers must also strictly control quality and pay attention to product safety.
