Take it off the shelves immediately! With sales exceeding 3.5 million, is this a popular kitchen item also infringing copyright?

There is a product on YouTube that is called a "kitchen magic tool" by many European and American consumers. It has been played more than 20 million times and is extremely popular.

This kitchen product is the slap chop food masher . Due to its easy operation and cleaning, it has been loved by consumers in many parts of the world. It once became a hot-selling item in shopping channels, with global sales exceeding 3.5 million units .

However, even for such a popular product, the risk of infringement is extremely high and one can easily go astray if one is not careful.

On July 15, Slap chop's rights holder, SQUARE ONE ENTERTAINMENT, INC., initiated rights protection. The case was represented by Keith Law Firm and the case number is 21-cv-03778.

The editor learned that the focus of the brand's rights protection this time is trademarks and copyrights . If the seller directly plagiarizes its copywriting or pictures, it is an infringement. In addition, sellers should pay special attention to not having infringing trademarks appear on listings and outer packaging.

In addition to the Slap Chop food masher that is being defended this time, Shamwow all-purpose rags, Schticky cleaning rollers, etc. are also popular brands under the right holders, and most of them have registered trademarks, so sellers should also do their homework in advance.

In fact, as early as last year, Slap Chop Food Masher had launched a rights protection campaign, at that time, sellers on multiple platforms such as Amazon, eBay, and AliExpress were all targets of prosecution. It is reported that the previous rights protection campaigns were all based on screenshots, directly taking screenshots of the sales pages of the infringing sellers and freezing the amount.

Referring to the previous rights protection situation, it is expected that this freeze is not far away. Sellers are requested to conduct self-inspections immediately, remove the products from the shelves in time, and minimize the losses.

From another perspective, kitchen product infringement cases have occurred frequently in recent years precisely because the related products are so popular and have achieved very good sales in the global market.

Although popular kitchen products such as slap chop food masher have registered trademarks and sellers cannot touch them, this also points out a path for sellers, and kitchen products may also be a good choice.

In addition, the editor would also like to remind all sellers that when selecting products, they should consider their own circumstances and make comprehensive considerations, and not blindly follow the trend.
