Recently, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission ( CPSC) said it was concerned that some smoke alarms might not work properly in an emergency and had recalled 200,000 smoke alarms nationwide.
Smoke alarms were sold on multiple platforms including Amazon
The recall involves Kidde TruSense smoke alarms and smoke/carbon monoxide combination alarms. According to the CPSC, these products were sold on Amazon, Walmart, and Home Depot , and while there have been no reports of injuries or accidents, these products may not alert consumers to fires, posing a potential safety hazard and must be replaced.
The recall includes Kidde Model Series 2040, 2050, 2060 and 2070 smoke alarms and combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarms that have the TruSense logo or "AMBER=FAULT" printed on the front of the alarm.
In fact, this is not the first time that Kidde's smoke alarms have failed. As early as 2018, due to a production defect, the product could not detect smoke properly, which led to the recall of 452,000 units in the United States and 40,000 dual-sensor alarms in Canada. In the event of a sudden fire, the consequences would be unimaginable.
In addition, when the editor searched for the term smoke alarm on Amazon, he found that many products had high sales and the ratings were mostly maintained at around 4.7 points. It seems that the market for smoke alarms is still very broad.
Searches for smoke alarms increased 250%
As life improves, people's safety awareness is also improving. The editor searched for the term "smoke alarms" in Google Trends and found that its popularity has not diminished, and the related search volume is soaring, especially " Will smoke alarms sound smoke alarms? " From this, it seems that many people have encountered similar safety problems.
Previously, because smoke alarms cannot detect fires, they became useless in real fire scenarios and even endangered life safety. Platforms such as eBay and Wish have removed such products from their shelves. It seems that the quality of smoke alarms needs to be improved.
In order to cope with the growing demand for smoke alarms, improve product quality and meet consumer experience requirements, many platforms have also imposed mandatory controls on such products, especially the AliExpress platform , which must upload and pass relevant qualification certifications.
Therefore, if a seller wants to sell this product, he must choose the type of qualification he has, such as UL certification in the United States , and fill in or upload the corresponding product qualification information according to the actual situation before he can start the journey of explosive sales.
