The delivery industry will reduce disposable items! Tableware may be a big seller in Korea

Korean Delivery Nation and Coupang-Itsu announced on the 22nd that they will jointly launch a campaign to reduce the use of disposable tableware in order to establish an eco-friendly delivery culture.

The epidemic not only affects economic operations, but also affects everyone's life. Under the background of the gradual resumption of work and production, many office workers have begun to order takeout, but they are particularly cautious about the use of tableware. Coupled with the measures taken by the Korean delivery company, this may directly promote the sales of tableware and other commodities.

It is reported that the three delivery applications have decided that starting from June this year , disposable tableware, forks and other tableware provided when ordering packaging and delivery must be provided upon separate request, and the disposable tableware selection function will be applied to each app . Customers who need disposable tableware must directly select "Disposable tableware and fork request" in the ordering requirements of the application .

Recently, plastic waste has caused environmental issues, and the three delivery apps want to create an environment that reduces the use of plastic and decided to apply the "in-service selection function."

According to the Takeaway Nation, after using the "No Disposable Tableware and Forks" button in April 2019, a total of 11.6 million people did not accept disposable tableware and forks as of March 21 this year. This is equivalent to planting 3.11 million pine trees and saving 6.9 billion won in disposable disposal costs.

CEO Kim Bum-joon said: " The three delivery app companies have introduced a common policy to address environmental issues, laying the foundation for reducing the use of disposable items in daily life, reducing user clutter, and the effect of environmental protection will be further improved. "

Kang Shinbong, CEO of Delivery Hero Korea, said: “We are very pleased that the three delivery app companies will work together to create a foundation for reducing the use of disposable items in daily life. As an ordering intermediary platform, we will do our best to provide environmentally friendly delivery services.”
