More than half of British consumers care about merchant ethics and delivery speed

A survey by payment platform Adyen showed that about 62% of British consumers said they care about the ethics of merchants when purchasing goods, such as paying employees fairly, contributing to the community or caring about the environment ... Even 52% of consumers said that they would choose brands or merchants that pay attention to environmental protection and responsibility.

This sentiment is more evident among the younger generation , with nearly two-thirds of the 18-34- year-old generation saying they would choose responsible businesses . However, although moral values will affect the characteristics of businesses that consumers choose after the epidemic , the level of convenience that can be provided to shoppers is still a crucial factor .

Adyen's research shows that 58% of consumers will still choose brands that can deliver goods quickly , and 54% of consumers believe that the e- commerce logistics partner is one of the important factors in their shopping choices .

The survey also showed another trend - 49% of respondents hope that self-service shopping, self-checkout and online shopping will become popular and reduce social interactions between people. This is also the most obvious feature of online and offline retail brought about by the epidemic. It is also because of this trend that companies related to electronic payment and self-service shopping have developed rapidly.

In addition , statistics show that the number of Europeans shopping online will reach 506 million this year, with a user penetration rate of nearly 60%. By 2025, this number is expected to reach nearly 570 million. It is predicted that European e-commerce revenue will jump 30% in 2021 to $465 billion .

The UK, Europe's largest e-commerce market, is expected to generate nearly $104 billion in revenue in 2021, a 7% year-on-year increase. And compared with 2019, online retail transactions in the UK increased by 84.7% in March , accounting for 51.6% of all retail spending in March.

If you want to be competitive in the increasingly fierce British market, establish a responsible and sustainable social image as a business, and pay attention to choosing logistics partners with high customer satisfaction, these are all details that are close to consumer needs.
