Recently, an organization conducted a survey of global shoppers, and the results showed that global e-commerce shoppers of the baby boomer generation have different expectations from younger shopping groups. In addition, clothing is the key category for cross-border purchases by baby boomers.
Survey data shows that among respondents aged 57-75 who have shopped on international e-commerce sites in the past six months , 72% said they bought clothing, while 91% of shoppers under 40 said clothing was not an important category, and temporary workers were more concerned about local language and currency information when purchasing online.
ESW said in a press release that Gen Z is likely to prioritize buying the latest products immediately. When it comes to payment methods, baby boomers are more likely to seek basic best practices, like using local language and currency and clear refund policies.
ESW CEO said data shows that baby boomers are more inclined to participate in international e-commerce than ever before, and they attach more importance to the experience of all aspects of cross-border shopping than younger generations.
When shopping across borders, 43% of Baby Boomers say they prefer information displayed in their native language (compared to 31% of shoppers 40 and younger), while 39% say it would be better if prices were displayed in their native currency (compared to 31% of younger shoppers).
In addition, survey data shows that baby boomers prefer to shop via credit or debit cards. Among global e-commerce shoppers aged 57-75, about 65% have used credit or debit cards for cross-border shopping. Only 3% of temporary workers have used the pay now, buy later payment method.
In fact, shoppers in the 57-75 age group prioritize the cost of goods over satisfaction with past online shopping experiences. About 42% of baby boomers said that cross-border shopping can help them reduce shopping costs, but this is not the case for younger generations.
Only 27% of shoppers in the baby boomer generation and those under 49 said that online shopping experience satisfaction is the main issue affecting their shopping. That is to say, for baby boomers, cost is an important factor affecting their shopping, and clothing is their key category for cross-border purchases. Baby boom clothing Cross-border |
