• Beyond Meat founder Ethan Brown grew up in Washington, D.C., and shared his passion for agriculture with his father, a professor. On weekends and summers, he and his family would go to their farm in rural Maryland, which eventually became a full-fledged dairy business.
• Beyond Meat's main factory is still in Missouri, but it has established its headquarters and R&D center in El Segundo, California. In 2011, the company received investment from venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins, which was Kleiner Perkins' first investment in a food startup.
• Beyond Meat's product line is divided into two categories: "ready-to-eat" and "frozen". The former includes burgers and sausages, and the latter is ground beef and chicken strips. Since the success of The Beyond Burger, Beyond Meat has established a strong influence in leading US food retailers such as Ahold, Kroger, Target and Whole Foods Market.
