With 9.2 million visitors last month, Temu is now Australia's eighth largest online retailer

It is reported that Temu officially launched its Korean site yesterday . So far, Temu has opened a total of 27 overseas sites around the world, covering many regions such as Asia, Europe, North America, Latin America and Oceania.

 

The Australian site was launched in March this year. According to the latest data released by research company Ipsos iris, although it has been online for less than 5 months, Temu is already the eighth largest online retail brand in Australia in terms of audience.

 

Total visits to Temu's website and app grew 14.2 per cent to 9.2 million in June.

But in terms of traffic, Amazon still leads, with 14.1 million user visits in June, but down 0.7% from May.

 

eBay ranked second with 12.2 million visits, down 0.9% from May.

 

Flybuys, which is jointly owned by Wesfarmers and Coles Group, saw visits rise 9.1 per cent to 10.4 million.

 

Ipsos Iris also noted that more than 20.7 million people used retail websites or apps in June, a figure that remained stable despite rising cost of living pressures and weak discretionary spending among Australians.

 

Online retail categories that declined in Australia in June were mainly concentrated in non-essential items , including flowers, photo printing and auto parts. Flowers saw the largest decline, reaching 37.4% . Photo printing and auto parts fell by 5.5% and 4.3% respectively.

 

Australians aged 14 and over spent an average of 3.7 hours online per day, or 111 hours per month, down 4.6 per cent from May.

 

The 25-39 age group has the largest number of Internet users, while those aged 40-54 spend the most time online.

 

The most popular online categories in June , based on total user size, included search (20.9 million), social networking (20.9 million), technology (20.8 million), retail commerce (20.7 million) and entertainment (20.5 million).
