Amazon launches account protection plan, sellers: should it be blocked or not?

It is reported that Amazon officially issued an announcement to sellers earlier today, saying that it has launched an account status protection plan to address seller account security issues.

Amazon wrote in the announcement: “We understand that sellers have always wanted to have a more intuitive understanding of their account security issues and the risk level of account suspension, so we recently launched the account security rating feature, which can show the risk of suspension of sellers’ accounts. Now, with the Seller Account Protection Plan, sellers with stable security ratings don’t have to worry about their accounts being blocked.”

The announcement also pointed out that only sellers whose account rating scores are 250 points or higher and have been maintained for more than six months can enjoy this account protection plan, and the number of days that the seller's account score is below 250 points cannot exceed 10 days. In addition, sellers are also required to fill in emergency contact numbers in their information so that Amazon can contact the seller in time.

Currently, the account protection plan does not charge any fees. After joining the plan, if Amazon finds any problems with the seller's account, it will contact the seller as soon as possible to try to solve the problem instead of directly banning the account.

Most sellers do not seem to be convinced by Amazon's new account protection plan, as they believe the requirements for joining the plan are too strict and not suitable for most small and medium-sized sellers.

A foreign seller commented: "Why does the account rating need to be 250 points? Most small and medium-sized sellers' account ratings are generally around 200 points, which is very unfair to them."

"To go from 200 points to 250 points, we need to have sold at least 2,500 orders in the past six months. It seems that Amazon has not considered the feelings of small sellers at all."

"To be honest, it's really frustrating when Amazon says something is helpful or beneficial to us only to find out it's not the case at all."

Domestic sellers are also skeptical about the plan, saying it is "useless and if there is a problem, it has to be transferred to the US customer service team for processing."

Others believe that “Amazon will only contact the seller to handle the issue if the account is at risk, and the account will still be blocked if the issue is not handled properly.”

Opinions on Amazon's new account protection plan vary. Whether it is really useful or not depends on the results after it is officially put into use.
