Hourly wages up to $35! UPS recruits 100,000 people to cope with peak season

It is reported that the transaction volume during the holiday season usually starts to rise in October and remains high in January of the following year . Although the growth rate of US e-commerce has begun to slow down compared with the peak during the epidemic , it is still much higher than the historical normal level.

UPS said on Wednesday that it is currently recruiting for full-time and part-time positions , mainly package sorters , drivers and driver assistants. UPS said that part-time employees recruited during the holiday peak season have the opportunity to be promoted to full-time employees .

According to UPS, 35 % of part-time packagers have been offered permanent positions in recent years .

In addition, data shows that UPS's part-time delivery drivers start at $21 per hour, while large tractor truck drivers can earn up to $35 per hour. Package sorters make about $15-21 per hour.

According to Danelle McCusker Rees, UPS's director of human resources, the company has been committed to simplifying the recruitment process. From submitting an application online to receiving an offer, it generally takes no more than 25 minutes. This is about 5 minutes faster than last year. Rees also said: "I first joined UPS as a part-time worker."

A government jobs report released last week showed the U.S. job market added 315,000 jobs in August, about the same as economists expected but below the average of 487,000 jobs per month over the past year.

The report also noted that the unemployment rate reached 3.7% in August, the highest level since February. But there is a reasonable reason for the increase in the number of unemployed people: hundreds of thousands of people returned to the job market after the epidemic eased, but some did not find a job immediately, which increased the number of unemployed people counted.
