Not long ago, overseas e-commerce research company Marketplace Pulse released data showing that sales of Chinese merchants on Amazon have been surpassed by domestic US sellers, falling from about 48% at the end of 2020 to about 42% in May this year .
Industry insiders analyzed that the "account blocking wave" has made a large number of Chinese sellers feel the risk of being "wiped out overnight", and it is imperative to enhance their "sense of security" by deploying multiple channels.
How to find high-potential cross-border platforms other than Amazon for decentralized operations, find the next growth opportunity, and reduce the risk of "store closure" has become a question that many domestic cross-border e-commerce sellers think about every day. Recently, in cities such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen, more than 5,600 cross-border companies have signed up for the new track AE Mall launched by AliExpress , hoping to gain greater business development space.
The "store closure wave" in 2021 brought long -lasting "phantom limb pain" to China's cross-border sellers, and also made many super sellers give up their fantasies and dependence on a single overseas platform.
Not long ago, Tianze Information, the parent company of the domestic "big seller" Youkeshu, released its 2021 financial report and the first quarter report of 2022. Its top five operating platforms are Amazon, AliExpress, Shopee, Wish and Walmart. Among them, the sales share of the AliExpress platform has increased significantly in Youkeshu's latest financial report, and the order revenue from AliExpress has exceeded 20 % of Youkeshu's total revenue . It ranks second only to Amazon at 32 % .
Youkeshu's choice of decentralized operations is not an isolated case. Another super seller, Anker Innovations , formerly known as one of the "Amazon Three" , has also been continuously reducing its dependence on overseas platforms in the past two years , and has quietly shifted its focus to independent sites and domestic cross-border e-commerce platforms.
For more small and medium-sized sellers who cannot invest high costs to establish independent websites, "multi-platform development" has become almost the only way out, and the number of merchants choosing to return to domestic cross-border platforms such as AliExpress and TikTok Shop is increasing rapidly.
According to the latest data released by AliExpress, the number of new active merchants on AliExpress has increased by nearly 180% from the previous month since May 2022. Among the newly added active merchants, there are many leading sellers who are previously known as the "Amazon Three" and "Sakata Five Tigers" in the industry and have a vane significance in the cross-border circle .
