Cainiao and Atlas Airways jointly launch large wide-body 747-8F charter flights to South America, adding oversized and overweight cargo transportation services

Recently, a Boeing 747-8F aircraft carrying more than 120 tons of cargo took off from Hong Kong International Airport in China and landed smoothly at Sao Paulo Airport in Brazil . The successful execution of this flight plan marks the further enrichment and deepening of the cooperation capacity between Cainiao and Atlas Air . The 747-8F cargo aircraft will operate flights between China and the United States, Brazil and Chile , increasing the capacity between China and the United States .

Atlas Air, a subsidiary of Atlas Global Holdings, is a leading global aircraft leasing and aviation operations company and operates the world's largest fleet of 747 freighters.

The cargo plane that carried out this flight plan is the first of the four 747-8Fs that Atlas will receive from Boeing this year . The Boeing 747-8F is the world's largest civil cargo plane, with a maximum payload of 133 tons , which is about 16% higher than the Boeing 747-400 freighter . At the same time, the 747-8F is equipped with more advanced engines , more efficient structures and advanced aerodynamic performance, making the 747-8F perform better in energy conservation, emission reduction and green environmental protection .

In addition to the official commissioning of the 747-8F freighter, Cainiao also teamed up with Atlas to launch the China-South America oversized and overweight cargo transportation service and successfully completed the transportation of the first batch of cargo, which took off from Hong Kong International Airport in China and landed smoothly at Mataveri International Airport in Chile after a 28 - hour flight . Cainiao and Atlas customized a professional transportation plan for this batch of oversized and overweight cargo by using wide-body aircraft and successfully completed the transportation.

The delivery of the new 747-8F freighter will help us meet the growth in customer demand, said Michael T. Steen , Atlas Air executive vice president and chief commercial officer . “We are very pleased that the first 747-8F will be delivered to support our long-term partnership with Cainiao and support its further growth as a global leader in e - commerce logistics services.”

Zhang Danqing, Commercial Director of Global Routes for Cainiao's Cross-Border Business, said, "As a global industrial Internet company driven by customer value, we have been continuously improving our logistics services. Especially since the cooperation with Atlas, Cainiao has been strengthening the regular charter operations between China and the United States to meet the logistics needs of the booming e-commerce in the Americas. With the commissioning of the 747-8F freighter , we can better fulfill our commitment to provide sustainable and efficient logistics services to our global customers . "

At present, Cainiao's charter flights to Latin America have increased to 8 flights per week. Combined with Cainiao's construction of logistics facilities in Latin America, the logistics time for packages from Chinese cross-border merchants has been shortened from the previous 40-50 days to as fast as 12 days.

With the official use of the 747-8F freighter, Cainiao and Atlas will provide exclusive air transport solutions for more extra-long, extra-wide and extra-heavy cargoes, and further improve logistics stability and optimize time efficiency, helping Chinese products to go overseas and achieve worry-free cross-border transportation.

It is reported that in the fourth quarter of 2021, Cainiao International’s average daily cross-border parcels exceeded 5 million, continuing to stand shoulder to shoulder with international logistics giants. Among them, the “5 US dollars for 10-day delivery” logistics product has covered 20 countries, helping more cross-border merchants “deliver to the world with the money for a cup of coffee.”
