Australians to spend $1.5 billion on Easter products

Australians to spend $1.5 billion on Easter products

Recently, the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) and Roy Morgan jointly released a survey on Australian consumption trends during this Easter. A total of 2,184 Australians aged 18 and above participated in the survey.

Data shows that more than 4 million Australians plan to travel during Easter this year, of which A$7.1 billion will be spent on vacations and A$1.5 billion will be spent on Easter food , chocolate and other Easter products . Tourism operators and sellers can seize the Easter opportunity .

Among Australians who travel, 63% will choose to travel within the state, 34% will go to other states, and 3% will travel abroad. In terms of age, people aged 35 to 49 will spend 2,000 Australian dollars on travel during the Easter holiday , with a total expenditure of 2.6 billion Australian dollars, becoming the backbone of the consumer market .

In terms of spending on Easter products, 73% of Australians said they planned to buy Easter foods such as hot cross buns, chocolates and Easter eggs, spending an average of A$ 100 and a total of nearly A$ 1.5 billion .

By region, people in New South Wales will spend the most on Easter food - about $ 500 million , with an average outlay of $ 104 , followed by Victorians who will spend $ 400 million , with an average outlay of $100.

Of Australians planning to buy Easter food, about 66 per cent said they would spend about the same as last year. About 22 per cent said they would spend less, and just 12 per cent said they would spend more .

ARA chief executive Paul Zahra said most Australians would choose family gatherings at Easter , entertaining family and friends with Easter eggs and hot cross buns , so there was a high demand for Easter-related foods this year.

Paul Zahr also predicts that home decorations and DIY decorations around the garden will be popular during Easter , as Easter is a rare holiday and many Australians will choose to use the holiday time to decorate their houses.

Every year , Easter is an important node in the golden months of March and April for e-commerce. Many consumers will shop during the Easter promotion.

As the current epidemic restrictions in Australia are relaxed , the locals' "shopping desire" has been fully stimulated. This year's Easter is expected to be a harvest season for sellers .
