To help merchants sell, Google adds multiple new analysis tools

Google   Shopping on Monday announced a series of new updates and tools designed to help merchants improve the performance of their products.

 

The company has launched a new organic traffic insights tool, a price insights tool , and a new shipping and returns overview page designed to let merchants understand the impact of their product listings and how to improve their products. It is understood that these new tools will be provided to merchants free of charge .

 

Additionally, Google will release a new Shopping Experience Scorecard program in the coming months that will give brands that meet certain criteria a “Trusted Stores” rating .   Store) ” badge. According to Google’s tests, merchants with this badge will see a significant increase in traffic.

 

By offering merchants free insight tools , Google aims to differentiate itself from other online rivals and become a better alternative to Amazon .   Since launching Shopping, the tech giant has added a number of features to attract more merchants .

 

For example , the organic traffic insights tool launched this time allows merchants to analyze the traffic, clicks , and conversion rates of their listings. Google's new price insights tool allows merchants to check whether their product prices are competitive. At the same time, according to the announcement, the new shipping and returns overview page helps merchants "see their quotation range at a glance and optimize their settings ."

 

Google   Matt, Vice President of Shopping   “In terms of the ecosystem, we can provide more tools to merchants while also providing free tools to help them really grow their business, ” Madrigal said. “What we want to do is directly connect merchants to our users.”

 

Over the past few years, Amazon has become the preferred platform for American consumers to shop and search for products .   According to Scout's 2021 data, Amazon is the first choice for 74% of American consumers when searching for products .

 

But some retail analysts believe that Google has been slowly chipping away at Amazon's dominance. A survey conducted by Morgan Stanley in November last year showed that 57% of respondents had researched new products on Google platforms such as Google Search and Youtube. During the same period, the number of Amazon Prime subscribers who used Google for these searches rose from 51% to 56%.
