Recently, the French National Association of European E-Commerce released its 2021 report, showing that France's online sales in 2021 exceeded 129 billion euros, a year-on-year increase of 15.1%.
Online sales are divided into products and services, with product sales of 66.7 billion euros, up 7% and 42% from 2020 and 2019 respectively, marking a sustainable growth trend in the e-commerce sector.
In 2021, e-commerce sales accounted for 14.1% of total retail, higher than 13.4% in 2020. The number of active sellers also increased by 11%. The number of transaction orders on online sales websites exceeded 2.1 billion, an increase of 16% over 2020. Although the average transaction volume decreased by 0.8%, it was still higher than the level in 2019, with the average order amount being 60 euros.
From the perspective of categories, fashion apparel and home furnishings continued to grow in 2021 , by approximately 6% and 18% respectively , and sales of fast-moving consumer goods increased by 6% year-on-year. On the other hand, technology products and beauty products, which had the strongest growth in 2020, declined by 6% and 3% respectively .
In addition to online products, with the easing of epidemic prevention measures, online services represented by the tourism industry have also grown, with tourist attractions growing 42% throughout the year . The industry's recovery began in April and strengthened in the third quarter, especially after the launch of the health pass in August , but it is still lower than before the epidemic.
After the rapid growth in 2020, the sales of major e-commerce platforms are still growing steadily, especially during the lockdown period. Compared with traditional e-commerce, third-party platforms such as Amazon and Cdiscount have become the shopping habits of many consumers. The diversity of platform products and the quality of services provided are important factors in their choice.
Among many e-commerce platforms, Amazon is popular among most consumers. Amazon is also continuously increasing its local investment. According to foreign media reports, Amazon has invested more than 11 billion euros in France since 2010 and recently announced that it will create 3,000 new permanent jobs in France this year.
As one of the important markets in Europe, France is also a choice for many sellers, and relevant sellers should also pay more attention to local developments. France Europe E-commerce |
