eBay suspends shipments to Russia and Ukraine

eBay suspends shipments to Russia and Ukraine

Affected by the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the cross-border circle has been greatly affected. Sellers' orders have dropped, goods have been damaged, shipping and freight forwarding companies have adjusted their work plans and suspended shipments, and cargo transportation has faced serious difficulties.

Recently, eBay issued an announcement stating that in order to avoid the impact of abnormal delivery services or delays in Russia and Ukraine on sellers, starting from February 26, 2022, the SpeedPAK program will suspend the sending and receiving of parcels to Ukraine (all over the country) and Russian postal codes 283000-287999 and 291000-294999.

The specific contents include: suspending the global shipping program service in Ukraine and Russia, suspending eBay's international standard delivery service into Ukraine , and extending the delivery time for goods sold on or after February 21 .

eBay also reminds sellers that if the goods cannot reach the buyer, they may be returned to the shipper. Sellers should check the tracking information regularly to get more detailed information. In view of the above situation, sellers should also make shipping adjustments to avoid affecting their accounts.

On the other hand, eBay will also provide corresponding protection measures for the impact on sellers, including delayed delivery rate, effective tracking upload rate, negative consequences of transaction cancellation, etc. These seller protection measures apply to all goods shipped to Ukraine and Russia from February 21.

Although the eBay announcement only mentions Ukraine and Russia, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has warned that commercial and cargo airlines will also avoid Russian and Belarusian airspace within 100 nautical miles of Ukraine . In addition, Moldova has closed its airspace to commercial air traffic. Shipments to both Belarus and Moldova may also be affected.

Under the situation between Russia and Ukraine, both sea and air transport have been restricted, cargo ships have been bombed, and related flights in many countries have been canceled. With the closure of air transport, the situation in Ukraine has also led to an increase in international crude oil prices, further increasing the costs of airlines and freight rates are also facing a corresponding increase.

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has exacerbated the tension in the international supply chain. The cross-border circle has also been affected in many ways. Sellers should pay attention to adjusting their market layout in a timely manner.
