According to foreign media reports, the Madhya Pradesh police in India recently filed a case to investigate the practice of third-party sellers on Amazon selling shoes, T-shirts and other fashion accessories with "Indian flag" patterns on the platform .

The Madhya Pradesh police said the case was registered under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 and Section 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill will between classes).

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said : " I have noticed that online platforms are selling products with national flag patterns. What is intolerable is that the national flag pattern is even used on shoes. " Mishra also revealed that the state will formulate a law to check the sale of products on online shopping websites.

It is understood that a similar incident occurred in 2017. At that time, an Amazon user posted a post on the social platform selling a shoe mat with an Indian flag pattern.

In response, Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj called on Amazon to remove the insulting product and threatened to revoke the visas of the company's foreign employees in India if Amazon did not take action.

Amazon did remove the Indian flag-emblazoned doormat from its Canadian website at the time. An Amazon spokesperson in India said the site no longer sells the Indian flag-emblazoned doormat. However, the spokesperson now appears to have broken his word.

For the majority of sellers, when selling goods, they need to pay attention to products related to national flags, because some countries have strict management in this regard.

In fact, the "pitfalls" that sellers need to avoid when selecting products include: products with discriminatory nature (such as the products with national flag patterns mentioned above), illegal and potentially illegal products, products containing nudity and pornography, products that infringe on personal privacy, and products with potential safety hazards.

In addition, due to the strong religious atmosphere in the Middle East, you also need to pay attention to these issues: try not to use the word God, do not use cross patterns and shapes, it is best not to have pig patterns on the products, and do not use hexagrams (because it is similar to the pattern on the Israeli flag). There are strict restrictions on cigarettes, alcohol, etc.
