Etsy charges extra advertising fees, causing dissatisfaction among sellers

Recently, according to foreign media reports, a seller claimed that Etsy charged extra advertising fees . The seller said that he had previously sold goods on the eBay platform, but in order to achieve greater profits, the seller began to sell on the Etsy platform a few years ago . A few years later, as the seller 's business on Etsy gradually stabilized , the investment also paid off.

But what happened next made the seller feel helpless.

Sellers say Etsy has begun assessing additional fees through its off-site advertising program . Sellers say they can't believe they are being " forced " to participate in this uncontrollable and expensive marketing program. The fees reportedly amount to more than 22% of the sale price .

Last March, Etsy sparked complaints from sellers about fees. The sellers said they paid a 32% sales commission , but Etsy charged a 15% off-site advertising fee, in addition to the regular commission of the sales price plus shipping and payment processing fees.

When the news came out, many sellers complained about it. Advertising fees have always been a considerable investment for sellers, and charging extra fees has increased the sellers' investment costs. In addition, the sellers' product prices and profits will also be affected to a certain extent.

The additional fees have once again caused complaints from some sellers. Some sellers said that they don’t understand why they have to pay more fees even though their products do n’t have high profits . Some sellers also joked that they have invested a lot of time to build their business on Etsy , just to be charged these ridiculous mandatory fees ?

Despite this, these sellers have decided to only sell very expensive items on Etsy and have indicated that they may close their stores completely . It is worth noting that most of these sellers are multi-platform sellers, with Etsy and eBay being important platforms for their product sales.

These sellers said that they have seen some great changes and improvements on eBay in the past year , and are optimistic about the market development. However, some sellers also expressed concerns and hoped that eBay would not follow the path of charging off-site advertising fees like Etsy did .
