It is understood that in Brazil, the penetration rate of PCs for Internet access is still very low. Relevant survey data show that about 58% of Brazilians still use smartphones to access the Internet.
As for large e-commerce events such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday in Brazil, research by Brazilian SEO company Conversion shows that people basically shop online through smartphones during these large events.
The study also found that one-third of visits to e-commerce sites are made via desktop. Tablet sales in Brazil rebounded in 2021, driven by increased home working and schooling, with device sales increasing in the second and third quarters, according to IDC research.
Moreover, relevant research shows that among the products purchased by Brazilian consumers through smartphones, children's products account for the highest proportion, reaching 85%; while the proportion of products purchased through computers is 15%.
In addition, another popular category for online shopping is cosmetics, and 83% of purchases of this product are made through smartphones, while the remaining 17% are made through computers.
According to the analyst firm, the emphasis on remote learning and work driving tablet sales can be seen in both the retail and enterprise markets, as well as in the public sector. “Governments continue to implement projects aimed at digital education, just as companies continue to modernize and use more devices in their digital transformation,” said Daniel Voltarelli, ICT market analyst at IDC Brazil.
Since the start of the pandemic, most online purchases in Brazil have been made via smartphones, according to another study by consulting firm Ebit/Nielsen in partnership with Brazilian fintech company Bexs, which showed that 55.1% of the 194 million purchases in 2020 were made via smartphones.
At present, Brazil's cross-border e-commerce market is still gradually expanding. Sellers can pay more attention to the traffic trends in this market. Children's products, cosmetics and computers are currently the most popular categories in the country, and relevant sellers can start to plan.
