135,000 square meters, Ozon builds a new large warehouse

With the development of the Russian e-commerce market, the order volume of major platforms has also continued to grow. In order to adapt to market demand and seize more market share, each platform has also increased its investment, among which logistics and warehousing facilities are an urgent need.

Ozon recently announced that it will build a large warehouse complex with an area of 135,000 square meters . This is a record transaction in the St. Petersburg warehousing market and one of the largest warehousing markets in the Moscow region and outside. It is expected to open in 2022.

The new warehouse is located in the Bagry district of Leningrad. Once completed, it will be able to handle 250,000 to 300,000 orders per day and speed up the delivery of goods in St. Petersburg and neighboring areas.

The expansion of infrastructure will provide residents of St. Petersburg and the northwest of the country , as well as sellers selling on the platform , with a wider selection of goods and more growth opportunities. It is reported that Ozon's revenue increased by 94% to 89 billion rubles in the first half of this year , and the number of orders increased by 180% to 40.9 million .

As of June 30 this year , Ozon already has nine warehouse complexes with a total area of 268,000 square meters. In four to five years, Ozon plans to increase the available area of its warehouses to 1 million square meters across the country .

Ozon 's warehouse project is the largest project in the region's warehouse real estate market announced this year , followed by Wildberries ' project, which bought a plot of land in Shushary in the middle of this year to build a distribution center of about 100,000 square meters. Experts point out that with the development of e-commerce, the warehousing sector has seen a boom.

According to Ozon , after this warehouse, other warehouse clusters are planned to be built in the Leningrad region in the future.

E-commerce in Russia is in a period of rapid development. In addition to Ozon , Wildberries and AliExpress are also stepping up the construction of logistics warehouses and other infrastructure.

As the sales peak in the second half of the year approaches, relevant sellers must also grasp the market situation and adjust their strategic layout in a timely manner.
