AliExpress Russia announces half-year results, with revenue up more than 30% year-on-year

Recently, AliExpress Russia announced its half-year results. From April 1 to September 30, 2021, AliExpress Russia's turnover (excluding service fees) reached 133.3 billion rubles, an increase of more than 36% over the same period last year.

 

The growth rate of commodity transactions from Russia exceeded expectations, with more than one-third of the turnover generated in Russia. During this period, sales of goods from Russian sellers increased by 126%, and orders increased by 5.5 times. As of the end of September, the turnover of AliExpress's local business in Russia accounted for more than one-third of the total turnover.

 

In the performance released by AliExpress Russia, we can see that the total number of sellers on AliExpress Russia has exceeded 350,000. Among them, the number of sellers from China and other countries is close to 275,000, a year-on-year increase of 45%. The number of local Russian sellers increased by 172% to 75,500. In the past 12 months, the number of active buyers on AliExpress Russia has exceeded 27.9 million.

 

It is reported that the total number of categories on AliExpress is the largest in the current e-commerce market, with about 177.1 million products, and this number is still growing year by year. In the local market, the number of SPUs of Russian sellers increased by 230% year-on-year to 11.7 million.

 

In the summer of 2021, AliExpress Russia launched its local iOS and Android apps. Since the beginning of October, the app has been at the top of the Russian store. AliExpress Russia claims that users spend 20% more time on the app than on other apps. In addition, AliExpress Russia has seen an increase in user retention and purchase frequency compared to the global app.

 

According to the GMV data provided by AliExpress Russia , we can see that the fastest growing categories in Russia are food, electronics, wedding and celebration supplies, clothing and accessories, furniture, men's clothing and underwear, home and garden supplies, electronics and accessories, jewelry and accessories, maternal and child supplies, underwear, toys and hobby products, etc. Among them, the most noteworthy is online food sales, with GMV increasing by 13,000% year-on-year.

 

In terms of order quantity, the home and garden products with the largest increase in orders on AliExpress Russia were 2 million orders , a year-on-year increase of 563%, followed by mobile phones, beauty and health products, tools, electronic products, auto parts, food, and household appliances.
