Another container ship found a new coronavirus case! It had previously docked at several major ports

According to Taiwan media reports, on September 6, there were 5 new cases of COVID-19 on the "Evergreen Fang" which was docked at Kaohsiung Port. The "Evergreen Fang" is a container ship represented by Evergreen International. At around 3 pm on September 5, it received a notification from the "Central Disease Control Agency" that 4 crew members had tested positive for nucleic acid. Later, another crew member went to the hospital for a fever and was tested, and the result was also positive. Therefore, there were a total of 5 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the freighter.

The confirmed cases have been sent to the hospital for treatment, and all other crew members are isolated in the cabins on board according to the instructions of the epidemic command center. Evergreen said that the crew must first undergo 7 to 14 days of centralized health management in the hotel arranged by the company . After the health management period, they must undergo PCR testing within three days before boarding the ship to confirm that the test results are negative before they can board the ship.

It is understood that the "Chang Fang" is shared by two shipping companies, Evergreen and Yang Ming , and serves the Asian near-sea line from Northeast Asia to Southeast Asia operated by Evergreen. The port authority said that the "Chang Fang" has had a very frequent voyage recently. In the past month , the "Chang Fang" has docked at major ports in East Asia and Southeast Asia .

It stopped at Singapore and Malaysia from August 4 to August 12 , at Hong Kong from August 16 to 17 , at Kaohsiung , Taichung, Taipei and other ports in Taiwan from August 20 to August 23, at Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya and other ports in Japan from August 26 to August 29 , and entered Taipei , Taichung and Kaohsiung ports in September. It entered Kaohsiung Port on September 5 and docked at Pier 80 .

On the afternoon of September 5 , relevant departments on Taiwan Island had already requested the Chang Fang to stop operating and restricted the ship from leaving the port. The CDC will then ask the Health Bureau to conduct a list of the passengers on board the Chang Fang and carry out related anti-epidemic work , and require the passengers to be quarantined at home or self-manage their health according to the epidemic situation.

Evergreen emphasized that the crew members need to measure their body temperature three times a day on board and record it, and meals are taken in groups in rotation; after landing from Taiwan, the crew members must be isolated for 14 days according to entry regulations . If the crew members have symptoms such as fever and cough, they must be isolated from others immediately, and the ship will immediately carry out thorough disinfection operations in various areas to minimize the risk of infection.
