Brazilian e-commerce product selection trends: rising demand for home furnishings and men’s apparel

Recently, Twitter released a survey report on e-commerce in Brazil to understand the factors that influence Brazilians’ choice of e-commerce during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as their demand for e-commerce products.

Demand for home products remains strong

According to statistics, Brazilian buyers have the greatest demand for household products, such as bed sheets, towels and duvets, with 94% of respondents choosing to think they need these products, followed by electronic products (91%), and 90% choosing personal care and health products. The demand for household appliances (88%), clothing (85%), groceries (84%) and furniture (81%) is also relatively high.

From the buyer's demand, it can be seen that Brazilians still have a relatively strong demand for household and indoor living supplies. Compared with Europe and the United States where the epidemic prevention policies have been relaxed, the impact of the epidemic and the lockdown in Brazil still exists. Sellers can also pay more attention to some household products when selecting products.

In addition, according to survey data: 78% of respondents attach great importance to discounts and promotions, 25% of respondents believe that brand effect is also important, and 20% of respondents said that product diversity is the main driving force that attracts them to shop.

The survey also counted the types of products that Brazilian buyers have purchased through e-commerce during the COVID-19 pandemic, including clothing ( 86%), electronic devices (85%), household appliances (69%), personal care and health products (66%), groceries (64%), household goods (52%), furniture (50%), vehicles (6%), and jewelry (5%). Combined with shopping demand data, the demand for household products has increased the most.

Father's Day is coming, clothing gifts are the most popular

In addition, Brazil will celebrate Father's Day on the second weekend of August. Sellers can also seize the last opportunity before Father's Day when selecting products. According to a survey by MIndMiners, 39% of respondents plan to spend 50-100 reais on gifts on Father's Day, and 28% plan to spend 100-200 reais.

In terms of gift categories, 44% of the respondents plan to buy clothing for their fathers, and 41% plan to buy perfume as a gift. The survey also investigated fathers' holiday wishes, and clothing was also the most popular: 38% of fathers hope to receive clothing gifts; 30% of fathers hope to receive barbecue or dinner gifts; 16% and 14% hope to receive mobile phones and notebooks respectively.
