eBay has launched a new charity shopping platform "eBay for Change" in the UK market .
eBay UK recently developed a three-year training and financial support program with millions of pounds of support funds to help small and medium-sized retail businesses . The eBay for Change platform was established to help community businesses develop, create more jobs for disadvantaged communities, and improve the local economy that has declined due to the epidemic.
According to a report from the UK, since the outbreak, 81% of people have changed their shopping methods and started to try online shopping, and 56% of people will also consider choosing small businesses. In this situation, eBay for Change acts as a bridge to connect local users with small and medium-sized enterprises, encourage them to buy products from small businesses, and then extract funds from them to help vulnerable groups. For example, providing employment or training opportunities, solving homelessness problems, supporting environmental protection activities, etc. It not only promotes the development of local small businesses, but also contributes to social welfare.
eBay is already working with SEUK and WFTO to help deliver the scheme, for example by providing small businesses with a global storefront, allowing them to reinvest profits in the UK or overseas markets.
In addition, eBay UK and UnLtd have also cooperated to invest in and develop social enterprises. Under this, the UK will also establish the first dedicated social enterprise e-commerce project. In the past year, social enterprises in the UK have grown rapidly. The emergence of the eBay for Change platform is consistent with the value concept of social enterprises. The two sides cooperate and give full play to their respective advantages to achieve a win-win effect.
Mandy Powell, founder of The Goodwash Company , a social enterprise that sells luxury soaps, said: “As well as buying a great product, they are also doing so much good for the community at the same time. It makes people feel proud.”
Rob Hattrell, senior director of eBay Europe, also said: "We believe that business can be a powerful force for positive change and with our current market size, we can play an important role in building a future economy that works for everyone." eBay Europe |
