More than 53% of consumers buy beauty products online
The survey found that most Americans ( 56%) pay more attention to skin care than before the epidemic. At the same time, many consumers are reducing the use of cosmetics, and more than half (54%) of consumers said they use makeup less frequently than before the epidemic.
Consumers’ purchasing channels have also changed, with more than half of shoppers (53%) now buying more beauty products online. The majority of these are younger consumers, with 66% of Gen Z shoppers and 58% of millennials saying they are spending more on beauty products online than before the pandemic.
From 47% of consumers who previously bought beauty products online on Amazon, 44 % now buy them on beauty retailer websites, such as Ulta.com or Sephora.com. In addition, online shopping spending by American consumers has also increased significantly, with almost half (49%) saying they spend more than $50 per month, compared to just 16% in 2019.
While price, brand and quality are important, beauty consumers are increasingly seeking products and brands that align with their values. More than three-quarters ( 76%) of shoppers say they are more likely to buy beauty products that are environmentally friendly. Gen Z shoppers (86%) and millennials (80%) are even more likely to buy beauty products that are environmentally friendly.
Running shoe sales in the U.S. totaled $1.8 billion in Q1
According to the latest data from NPD, total sales of running shoes in the United States in the first quarter of 2021 were $1.8 billion, up 32% from $1.3 billion in 2020.
It is worth noting that sales of men's running shoes reached US$886.3 million , up 34% from US$662.9 million last year . Women's running shoe sales increased 32% year-on-year, from US$446.1 million in the first quarter of 2020 to US$590.1 million in the first quarter of 2021. Sales of children's running shoes reached US$281.6 million in the first quarter of 2021, up 26% from US$224.2 million last year.
In addition, sales of football shoes also increased by 174%. During the epidemic, running and hiking are the best choices for Americans, which can maintain a healthy lifestyle while being safe.
