Fighting for a 10 billion market! Amazon vs. Flipkart, who will take center stage?

Over the years, India has become one of the potential markets that cross-border sellers cannot ignore. As competition in the Indian e-commerce market intensifies, various e-commerce platforms have also come up with their own unique strategies, and the battle is heating up ...

One of the reasons for the surge in demand for e-commerce in India is its large population . According to data, India’s population accounts for 18% of the world’s total population, and this figure will continue to grow in the next few years.

Secondly, the young population is also the main driving force for the development of India's e-commerce market. Data shows that India's online retail sales are expected to reach US$200 billion by 2026.

In this multi-billion-dollar potential market, the two giants, Amazon and Flipkart, have already started competing.

Amazon is moving full speed ahead

As the largest online shopping platform in India, Amazon India’s average monthly traffic has reached 261 million , and its popularity in the local market continues to increase.

In addition, in order to increase penetration , Amazon India employees traveled to 31 cities, established connections with more than 10,000 small business sellers, and attracted more small and medium-sized sellers to settle in.

In terms of logistics , Amazon India has also established logistics centers where local couriers can collect goods directly from sellers. Currently, Amazon has established 60 logistics centers in 15 states in India.

Flipkart is catching up

As a strong rival of Amazon, Flipkart has also been secretly competing with it in recent years and has upgraded all aspects of its platform.

At present, Flipkart's average monthly traffic has reached 200 million, the number of registered users on the platform has exceeded 1 million, and the number of merchants has exceeded 100,000.

In addition, the platform's complete product range is one of the important reasons for attracting new users. The platform provides more than 80 million products in more than 80 categories.

Flipkart has never stopped expanding its business . It has set up offices in 32 cities across the country , continuously expanding its business scope and attracting sellers and buyers from all over the country.

As the peak sales season is approaching, Amazon and Flipkart will certainly compete for a larger market share again. It remains a mystery as to which platform will be the winner in this market competition. But what is certain is that the Indian market still has huge potential and is a good choice for sellers.
