The seller regretted losing 1 million yuan in profit in two months because of one detail.

There may be many reasons why sellers suffer losses, such as infringement disputes, malicious follow-selling, or logistics delays caused by natural disasters, but what makes sellers most distressed are the details that could have been avoided.

Some time ago, an Amazon seller did not pay attention to details, which resulted in the wrong labeling of goods, causing serious consequences such as a direct loss of 1 million in profits in two months .

The thing is, the Amazon seller mainly promotes two products, and adopts a model of deep cooperation with the factory. After the shipment is created, all the remaining processes are handed over to the factory to complete, including product quality inspection, packaging, labeling, outer box labeling, contacting freight forwarders, and subsequent testing, etc. Because he trusts the factory's processing capabilities very much, the Amazon seller did not intervene in the subsequent testing process .

In fact, this practice is not uncommon. In order to save labor costs and logistics costs, many Amazon sellers do this, but the problem lies here: just a while ago, customers reported that the goods were not the same as described, and they immediately complained to the Amazon platform. The sellers had no choice but to be forced to remove the products from the shelves. After tracing it back, they found that the wrong product labels were affixed to the goods when they left the factory.

Such scenes are not uncommon. According to the survey, more than 80% of manufacturers suffer from cost increases and waste every year due to incorrect product labeling. 52% of manufacturers shut down production lines due to incorrect product labeling, and 26% of manufacturers experience similar situations once or more per week. Even 30% of manufacturers said that up to 10% of their final products are incorrectly labeled when they leave the factory.

Faced with this situation, sellers have only two solutions. One is to return the goods from Amazon warehouses to overseas warehouses, hire someone to relabel them, and then re-enter the warehouse. However, this method will not only cause sellers to have two extra shipping costs, but also require a lot of labor costs and time costs;

Another way is to contact Amazon customer service, ask them to apply for an investigation, and then ask Amazon to help change the label. However, after the goods enter the Amazon warehouse, they will be distributed to many warehouses. The investigation and label change also take a certain amount of time. During this period, the product cannot be sold normally. By the time everything is settled, I am afraid that the product’s hot selling period has passed.

Some sellers also suggested that if a customer wants to return the product in this situation, they can simply apply for a refund. The product will then be returned to Amazon’s warehouse, and the incorrectly labeled inventory can be directly destroyed or given to customers as promotional gifts. During this period, the price of the incorrectly labeled listing can be increased, and then the inventory can be quickly replenished to avoid the recurrence of the incorrect product. If you are reluctant to part with this batch of goods, you can also take this opportunity to move the product out of the overseas warehouse and relabel it.

However, it is of course better to prevent such things from happening in advance. Therefore, sellers must pay more attention and handle them with care when using labels. There are also many APPs on the market for sellers to check barcodes . Sellers can download one and check the product before shipping to confirm whether it is consistent with the label information.
