New changes in US consumption: Creditworthiness becomes an important factor affecting purchases

Recently, Salsify conducted a survey of more than 1,800 buyers, and the results showed that 37% of American consumers said they only shop in stores they trust. In addition, survey data showed that in 2020, 40% of consumers relied entirely on online shopping and chose delivery services or curbside pickup services.

Another 86% of consumers said they are willing to spend more money on a trusted brand, and they are more willing to buy branded products when purchasing products online.

High-quality materials and craftsmanship are more popular with consumers

The survey shows that many shoppers say that the composition and manufacturing methods of products affect their trust in brands. Among them, 40% of shoppers said that the materials and manufacturing processes of products are important factors in their trust in brands . In addition to the charitable donations or political statements that some brands often make, shoppers are also more concerned about whether the brand can deliver high-quality goods.

43% of consumers prefer to shop online

Salsify’s research found that 43% of consumers said they prefer to shop online rather than offline as they did before the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, sellers need to note that product details pages can only attract more consumers to buy if they highlight the quality of the product and let consumers see the lifelike product.

High-quality images and detailed product descriptions are more attractive to consumers

45% of consumers said that high-quality images and detailed product descriptions are the main reasons why they trust online products, which indirectly shows that good product pages will bring high conversion rates and promote consumer purchases.

In fact, brand manufacturers must not only create quality products and information, but also provide key product details to various endpoints where shoppers may purchase goods. Survey data shows that nearly one-third of online shoppers purchase goods directly through social media channels.

Research has found that consumer trust in brands has little to do with the company's founding and image. Consumers need high-quality products. Modern brands must ensure that they fully demonstrate the best attributes of their products to shoppers in order to attract more consumers to buy.
