Recently, foreign media reported that Shopee discussed sales in the Indonesian market with Indonesian Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises ( MenkopUKM) Teten Masduki. Through this meeting, relevant data of Shopee sellers and products were also reported. Products from local sellers still dominate, said Radityo Triatmojo, head of public policy and government relations at Shopee Indonesia . Radityo explained that all cross-border transactions are conducted in accordance with applicable procedures, which include tax and customs components. He therefore ensures that the prices given are not cheaper than local MSME products. Radityo also said in a written statement that Shopee has always been committed to supporting the growth and sustainability of business development of MSME players in Indonesia. It is understood that the Shopee export program, which has been growing until now, has seen a 6-fold increase in daily transactions in half a year (June 2020 to January 2021). Meanwhile, Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs ( MenkopUKM) Teten Masduki said the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs continues to encourage SMEs to transform globally. Among other things, the call for Shopee is a commitment to developing MSMEs and encouraging the promotion of local products on e-commerce platforms in the country.
