Home Depot opens new distribution center to increase delivery capabilities

With the surge in online shopping in the United States, large order volumes and slow delivery have become major challenges for many retailers. To further ease the problem of order delivery, Home Depot, an American home furnishing platform, said it has opened a large distribution center in Dallas to fulfill online and store orders.

New distribution center to improve delivery capabilities

Data shows that the distribution center established by Home Depot this time has 1.5 million square feet, mainly to meet the delivery needs of customers through multiple channels . Whether consumers want packages delivered directly to their homes or buy online and pick up offline stores, they can be directly satisfied.

As an important hub for Home Depot's product delivery and supply chain strategy, the Dallas distribution center also manages the delivery and installation of large appliances, such as washers, dryers and refrigerators , that customers order online or in stores .

It is reported that Home Depot also has a delivery center in the new Dallas campus, which can deliver building materials and other large products directly to customers at any time and place on the same day or the next day of the order.

Expanding national distribution and delivery network

Unlike other distribution centers, this one is equipped with a zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell charging station, which can provide sustainable and efficient power for material handling equipment in express sorting .

The distribution center also uses package monitoring strategies and information automation technology throughout the process to improve order delivery time and reduce truck drivers' waiting time.

It also has more than six miles of mechanized production lines and other automated technologies that allow it to inspect more packages at once and handle oversized orders .

It is reported that the Dallas distribution center will provide about 700 jobs for the local area , which is also part of Home Depot's $1.2 billion investment. In addition, the company's distribution network will cover 90% of the US population and provide same-day and next-day delivery options.

The president of Home Depot said that they have been continuously building new distribution centers, mainly to further speed up logistics distribution, improve their product delivery capabilities, and further expand their online business.
