Development History

1981 - JD Sports opens its first store in Bury, Greater Manchester.

1989 - JD Sports opens its first store on Oxford Street in London.

1996 - JD Sports Fashion Plc is listed on the London Stock Exchange.

2005 - Pentland Group acquired a 57.5% stake in JD Sports Fashion Plc.

2009 - JD Sports Fashion Plc acquires French sporting goods retailer Chausport; the group's first international entry and entry into Europe.

2010 - JD Sports opens its first JD in Lille, France; our first store in Europe.

2011 - JD Sports acquires Sprinter, the leading Spanish sporting goods retailer specialising in footwear, apparel and equipment. The Group enters Spain for the first time.

2012 - JD Sports expands into the outdoor market with Blacks and Millets joining the group.

2016 - JD Sports opens its first JD Sports store in Malaysia; the group's first entry into the Asia Pacific region. JD Sports currently has stores in Australia, Singapore and Thailand. JD Sports also opens its first gym as part of the JD Gym; an affordable and stylish gym concept.

2017 - JD Sports acquires Korean sports brand footwear retailer Hot-T. JD Sports acquires Go Outdoors, a UK "destination" for outdoor activities.

2018 - JD Sports acquires Finish Line in the US, a sports fashion retailer with stores in 44 states. JD Sports opens its first 5 JD stores in the US: Chicago, Houston, Columbus, Washington, and Indianapolis.

2019 - JD Sports is promoted to the FTSE100 list of the UK's largest businesses.

2020 - JD Sports opened its first store in Times Square, New York, USA; JD Sports' first flagship store in the United States.

JD Sports has acquired Shoe Palace, a branded athletic footwear and apparel retailer based on the West Coast of the United States. Shoe Palace has 167 stores, most of which are located in California, and has strong ties to the Hispanic and Latino communities.

2021 - With continuous expansion, JD Sports currently has more than 2,600 stores in 20 regions, including more than 830 JD Sports stores.
