About Feather

The average urban renter moves every 1-2 years. Tastes evolve, living arrangements change, budgets fluctuate, and many people can’t afford or want to buy quality furniture, so they end up turning to cheaper alternatives that don’t last. As a result, 20 billion pounds of furniture ends up in landfills every year (which is about the same amount of plastic that ends up in our oceans each year). This model is unsustainable.

We believe furniture shouldn't involve too many compromises. Affordable and well-made. Convenient and sustainable. Smart and stylish. These things are possible with Feather. We've built a more responsible approach to furniture, based on renting, reusing and refurbishing. There's still a lot of work to do, but we're proud to be delivering a more circular approach and helping a new generation of renters build homes they love, even as life changes.

A: You can join the Feather community through one of our three rental plans: Annual Membership (12 months+), Short Term (3 months+), or Monthly (1 month+). Renting with Feather gives you flexibility with your furniture in a responsible and sustainable way. If you would like to purchase your furniture outright, we now offer a purchase option!

Q: Why rent vs. buy?

A: Renting your furniture allows you the flexibility to change your space without stress, but sometimes people are looking for their long-term "permanent" furniture, which makes buying a good option. Whether you rent or buy Feather furniture, we do all the heavy lifting to ensure it is a seamless experience.

Q: Does Feather work with real estate agents and stagers?

A: We do! In fact, our monthly plans are designed specifically for those who are preparing their homes and are perfect for maximum flexibility in terms of availability. We also offer short-term plans (3 months) that are perfect for homes that need more time on the market.
