Postepay is one of the leading payment system providers in Italy, with an integrated multichannel distribution platform based on its physical Post Office network and a new generation digital infrastructure.


About Postepay

  • In 2018, the company created Postepay SpA, a new company specialized in the development and processing of mobile and digital payments. Postepay SpA aims to consolidate its leadership and exploit the opportunities presented by the convergence of physical and digital channels, while supporting the realization of the Group's overall strategy and providing guidance to citizens, businesses and public administration entities through the transition from traditional payment systems to more advanced solutions. Postepay has nearly 20 million prepaid cards, more than 4.8 million electronic wallets in use and nearly 4.5 million SIM cards.

  • In 2020, Postepay entered into an agreement with [Western Union]. More than 7 million Postepay Evolution customers can use Western Union to send money around the world through the Postepay App. They can prepare funds in the App using a card or account and pay through Western Union’s global retail network in more than 200 countries and regions.

  • Customers with a Postepay card can pay online using the »Pay with Postepay« button or in-store via the Postepay app. In addition to paying for online retail purchases, customers can also pay taxes with Postepay.

Postepay's goals

PostePay SpA aims to strengthen Poste Italiane's distribution channels through a "hybrid" model that sees the convergence between the physical world (the largest and most extensive network in Italy) and the digital world as an advantage and opportunity to accelerate national development.

In addition to being a hub of expertise within the Poste Italiane Group, PostePay SpA intends to intercept and guide the change in consumer habits, particularly in mobile payments, e-commerce and acquiring, by creating new channels and integrating products and services, making innovation accessible to everyone.


Postepay's ecosystem

PostePay SpA has 130,000 customers, 80,000 PosteMobile SIM cards, 40,000 payment cards (of which 260,000 are prepaid), over 190,000 downloaded applications, 190,000 activated digital wallets and 20,000 customers registered on the www.poste.it website.
