Luggage becomes a hot product in India as revenge travel increases

According to the latest news, Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart may acquire a majority stake in Cleartrip (travel APP) to expand the company's business scope. Currently, this plan is under discussion and more details are still to be discussed.

Flipkart's expansion of its tourism-related business is closely related to the retaliatory tourism consumption of Indian people since India lifted the lockdown. Since the Indian government announced a full lifting of the lockdown in February, Indian people's outdoor activities have greatly increased, and consumption related to travel has also increased.

Due to the epidemic blockade, Indian people have to stay at home to study and work. However, despite being at home, people's hearts yearn for the outside world. People staying at home have been preparing for travel activities after the blockade is lifted, and some items related to travel have maintained a certain search popularity.

According to the search popularity line chart of Google Trends, it can be seen that the search volume for suitcases in various regions of India has remained high, and the related search volume reached its peak after the announcement of the lifting of the blockade in February.

In addition to suitcases, the search volume for other essential travel items is also increasing. These items can be roughly divided into several categories according to their uses, such as toiletries, protective supplies, storage supplies, and fast food. Specifically, they may include toothpaste, facial cleansers, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, cosmetic bottles, small storage boxes, small hangers, instant coffee, compressed biscuits and other products.

Although the government announced the lifting of the lockdown, the epidemic situation in India remains severe. Therefore, the authorities call on people traveling to take strict protective measures and wear masks when going out. Therefore, masks, alcohol wipes, hand sanitizers and other epidemic prevention and cleaning supplies are also essential items for Indian people to travel.

At present, Indian people are in a stage of retaliatory consumption. The suppressed demand for going out in 2020 will be released in the near future, and travel-related products will also see sales growth. However, as the demand for going out is gradually released, the related popularity will gradually decline until it returns to normal levels. Therefore, sellers must seize the moment and seize opportunities.
