Amazon may force employees to relocate, and those who violate the rules will be required to "voluntarily resign"?

It is understood that Amazon is looking for ways to get its employees back to work in the office. To this end, the company even asked employees to move closer to the company so that they can go to work "without pressure".

Decisions about which employees will need to relocate are being discussed at the department leadership level, and the number of employees who may be affected in the future is unclear, according to Bloomberg News.

The Seattle Times cited internal sources at Slack as saying that unless the company's leadership "shows leniency," most employees will face the choice of either moving or resigning.

Amazon said that if some employees have special circumstances, they can apply to the company, and these applications will be approved based on the specific circumstances. In addition, Amazon also stated that employees who are required to move will receive additional moving benefits.

“Since we introduced a requirement to come into the office at least three days a week, our employees are experiencing more energy, collaboration, and connection, and we’ve heard from many of you and the businesses that surround our offices about this,” said Brad Glasser, an Amazon spokesman .

“Moving forward, we will continue to look at the best ways to bring more teams together to work in the same location, and we will communicate directly with employees when decisions are made that affect them.”

On May 1, Amazon officially began a return-to-office policy, requiring employees to return to the office at least three days a week. This policy was one of the issues that prompted Amazon employees to strike on May 31.

Still, community leaders in Seattle have praised Amazon’s policies as a boost to the city’s struggling high streets. According to new data released by Amazon this week, the area around Amazon’s Seattle headquarters has seen a marked improvement in economic performance.

In a previous memo about returning to the office, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy acknowledged that for some employees, "it will take some time to readjust to new ways of working," but he also mentioned the benefits of working offline.

The previous return-to-office policy has already aroused dissatisfaction among many employees. If employees are now forced to move, it will probably cause considerable unrest within the company.
