Can’t sell it anymore! Such products have been urgently removed from Amazon, eBay and other platforms

Recently, British consumer charity Electrical Safety First found in an investigation that platforms such as Amazon, eBay, and Wish are selling non-compliant electric bicycle chargers.

It is understood that these chargers do not meet product safety standards and are incompatible with the lithium-ion batteries in e-bikes during use , increasing the risk of internal battery failure, which could result in a fire.

Moreover, these chargers do not have any visible fuses inside, and the size of the product accessories is very small, which can easily cause electric shock during use. And the plug without a fuse cannot automatically cut off when the power cord fails , which is very dangerous .

Several fires in the UK this year have been linked to chargers and batteries for electric bikes and scooters .

Electrical Safety First found a total of 59 non-compliant products on sale on platforms such as Amazon, eBay, and Wish . The listings of these products have all been deleted.

An Amazon spokesperson said that the platform has now removed the non-compliant products from the shelves, and will continue to take active measures to prevent suspicious or non-compliant products from being put on the shelves and monitor whether there are product safety issues with the products sold in the online store.

At the same time, eBay and Wish also stated that they have deleted the relevant non-compliant products on their websites .

An eBay spokesperson said: " eBay has a dedicated security team that monitors the site as part of its daily product monitoring process and we also have a close working relationship with the ESF and Kensington & Chelsea Council's trading standards team , which enables us to quickly remove non -compliant products. "

A spokesperson for Wish said: “Wish’s merchant terms of service and policies require all merchants to comply with local laws when selling products on the platform . Out of an abundance of caution, we will temporarily block these products from being sold in the EU and UK markets while awaiting the final results of the merchant investigation. Once we receive the latest investigation documents or responses, we will review and consider whether further action is necessary .”

The supervision of product safety in foreign markets has always been very strict, so sellers must pay attention to product compliance requirements and check for safety hazards when selecting products on a daily basis. Never take chances for temporary benefits, otherwise the store will face serious losses.
