In recent months, various products have been ordered to stop selling due to safety issues, causing panic among sellers. In particular, baby products have become a "hard-hit area" of safety hazards.
Recently, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a warning, urging consumers to immediately dispose of an infant evacuation bag used for emergency evacuation because the product may cause infants to fall during use.
It is understood that the product is a disposable evacuation bag with a 60-foot-long yellow grip line connected to the bag, which is used to lower infants and young children from upstairs in an emergency and is suitable for children weighing less than 75 pounds.
CPSC staff determined through their evaluation of the product that the bag could become detached from the grip cord when in use , posing a fall risk to a child inside the bag .
It is reported that the product was operated by a store called SafetyInternational and was sold on platforms such as Amazon, Walmart, and Kmart for 12 years (2010-December 2021) at a price of US$120.
Safety International, the product's operator, has agreed to stop selling these evacuation devices in December 2021, but as of now, the company has not agreed to an acceptable recall . Currently, the CPSC is contacting known sellers and urging used sellers not to sell these products.
It is understood that the property losses caused by product safety issues in the United States exceed 1 trillion US dollars each year , so the CPSC's supervision of product safety is becoming increasingly strict.
It should be noted that this product is produced in China and the label shows "Made in China".
Recently, a number of products produced in China have been discontinued and recalled, including playpens, children's pajamas, luminous pillows, shower toys, etc., all of which involve product safety issues.
Chinese products have always been popular among overseas consumers because of their high quality and low price. However, in recent years, there have been frequent recalls of Chinese products due to safety issues.
Therefore, when Chinese sellers going overseas are planning their products, they must strictly control product quality and conduct detailed assessments of product safety issues. Once a product is discontinued, it will not only damage the brand’s credibility, but also the reputation of Made in China, causing the platform to impose stricter restrictions on Chinese-made goods, which is very detrimental to the long-term development of the store.
