The sleep-aid economy is booming, and British mattress brands have achieved positive revenue growth for three consecutive years

According to foreign media reports, not long ago, the mattress brand Eve Sleep issued its latest financial report showing that its revenue in 2021 increased by 1.4 million pounds (about 11.74 million yuan) year-on-year to 26.6 million pounds (about 223 million yuan), and its gross profit was 14.7 million pounds (about 123 million yuan), slightly higher than 14.4 million pounds (about 121 million yuan) in 2020. Especially after the epidemic lockdown, consumers have higher requirements for their home environment, which has made the online sales of mattresses outstanding. Although the expenditure on product marketing decreased by 40% and the promotion efforts were reduced during the same period, the revenue increased by 11%.

It is reported that in February, Eve Sleep's stock price soared 54.29 % after announcing a new retail partnership with furniture retailer DFS. In early March , Eve Sleep products were listed on DFS 's online sales platform dfs.co.uk , which has an average of 2.7 million unique visitors per month and high user activity .

Relevant data shows that nearly one-third of the world's population suffers from problems such as insufficient sleep and poor sleep quality, and sleep quality is showing a clear downward trend. Correspondingly, the sleep-aid economy is becoming increasingly popular, and sleep-aid products are emerging in an endless stream .

According to data from Statista, the global sleep aid economy is worth approximately US$488 billion (approximately RMB 3.1 trillion) in 2021, and is expected to increase to US$585 billion (approximately RMB 3.7 trillion) by 2024. As an indispensable product in the sleep aid economy, mattresses have a global market value of US$34 billion (approximately RMB 216.55 billion) in 2021 and are expected to reach US$49.2 billion (approximately RMB 313.36 billion) by 2027, with a compound annual growth rate of 6.2% from 2022 to 2027.

Canadian home furnishing giant Sleep Country's mattress sales reached US$300 million (about RMB 1.9 billion) in the first quarter, and American mattress leader Sleep Number's revenue reached US$600 million (about RMB 3.8 billion) in the first quarter.

For consumers in Europe and the United States, home products are "consumables" that need to be replaced frequently . According to relevant surveys, European and American consumers replace their mattresses every 3-4 years on average. European and American consumers who pursue a comfortable sleep have a strong demand for home products such as mattresses, and the home mattress market has broad prospects. The formation of a new trend in sleep-aid consumption has broadened a new development track for related manufacturers .
