Costco's net sales increased 15.5% in January 2022

Recently, according to the latest news from foreign media, Costco Wholesale Corporation has regularly updated the market on its latest performance . Data shows that in the latest update of revenue in January 2022, Costco reported net sales of US$15.76 billion.

By comparison, revenue was 15.5% higher than last year , when it was $13.64 billion. Inflation-related price adjustments also helped the retailer , which reportedly expects net growth to be in the mid-single digits .

The report said that Costco's revenue growth was affected by two important factors . One was the return to normal consumer behavior after the epidemic , and the second was the increase in inflation .

In response to rising inflation , many retailers have raised prices to boost revenue , but this has also resulted in higher costs for them.

Data shows that in the past fiscal year, Costco's total revenue reached 195.93 billion US dollars, of which sales revenue was 192.05 billion US dollars and membership fee revenue was 3.88 billion US dollars. Sales revenue increased by 17.7% over the same period last year, while membership fees increased by 9.5% year-on-year.

Costco's total revenue in the first quarter of fiscal year 2022 was US$50.36 billion, with sales revenue and membership revenue of US$49.42 billion and US$950 million, respectively. As one of its largest international markets, Costco's same-store sales in Canada grew the fastest at 17.2%, 2.3% higher than the United States.

It is understood that Costco has more than 500 branches in seven countries around the world, most of which are located in the United States. It is the world's first membership-based warehouse wholesale store. In addition, the company's e-commerce business has expanded to many countries around the world.

Costco has many competitors, including retail giants Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target, etc. Affected by the epidemic in the past two years, consumers have increased their purchasing power on e-commerce platforms. However, as the epidemic eases, consumers have returned to offline stores again, making major retailers work together in both online and offline operations, and competition has become increasingly fierce.
