Recently, according to foreign media reports, the number of buyers shopping on resale websites increased during this year's holidays.

 

When consumers cannot find satisfactory products on many e-commerce platforms, they often search through resale platforms. According to survey data from OfferUp , due to problems such as shipping delays and inventory this year, the trend of consumers turning to resale platforms is emerging.

 

OfferUp pointed out that this year, one in four consumers will use resale platforms to buy holiday gifts and decorations . In particular, electronics will be the main shopping choice for holiday consumers, with an estimated proportion of 30%, followed by furniture and home furnishings, with an estimated proportion of 20%, and clothing, shoes and accessories, with an estimated proportion of 18%.

 

According to data provided by OfferUp, the gifts currently searched by consumers on its platform include Peloton, Pokémon cards, Yeezy shoes, Generation Z's favorite Squishmallows, Funko Pop, PlayStation5, etc. It is worth mentioning that PlayStation5 is favored by many buyers. It is the second most searched product on OfferUp in 2021.

 

In addition, OfferUp provides a guide to selling on its mobile classifieds app and other resale platforms, which contains a lot of data and advice on what to sell, when to sell, and how to sell. For example, the most popular time to buy and sell travel gear and luggage is January to May.

 

For sellers, OfferUp proposed some tips for selling on the resale platform, including creating an eye-catching listing; being good at communication and responsive; pricing items fairly, etc. OfferUp emphasized that for resale buyers, the most important thing is the seller's rating and listing price . Subsequently, OfferUp announced some factors that affect buyers' shopping:

OfferUp said 2021 was a decisive year for the resale market , but 2022 is expected to break that record . And 30% of resale sellers said their sales continued to increase.
