By SEO Agency Hedgehog Digital and Opinion The “State of Search in Brazil” study, conducted in partnership with Box, shows that internet search is a key step in the purchasing process for Brazilian consumers .
The survey surveyed 3,141 Brazilians aged 16 and over to understand their online search habits in the past 12 months . The survey showed that 93% of Brazilians had used smartphones to search for information in the past 12 months .
According to the survey results, 88% of Brazilians used Google to conduct some online searches last year. Among them, 82% of users used the search engine to search for content and information, and 70% of users searched for consumer products .
Among respondents who shopped using computers, 25% searched on search engines (such as Google) beforehand , 13% searched on e-commerce platforms , and 12% searched on image search engines .
Among people who use smartphones or tablets to shop online, 23 % use Google search before making a purchase decision, 14% search on e-commerce platforms, and 10% browse brand websites and use image search .
When searching on Google for a product they intend to buy, 61% of Brazilians say they also search on other pages and websites, so they choose the ones with the best value for money.
The Brazilian State of Search also revealed that 60% of people prefer to visit results on the first page when searching for information on Google . Notably, 13% of Brazilians click on the first result — whether it’s an ad or not — and 27% say they click on the first ad pop-up .
Another important piece of information revealed by the survey is that when searching on Google , 60% of people will stay on the first page to access relevant product information, and 41% said they will click on ads.
The study shows that in the past 12 months, the keywords most searched by Brazilians include: "electronics" (53%), "food" (48%), "fashion" (47%) and "entertainment" (41%) , " supermarket " (40%), "courses" (37%), "beauty" (37%), "travel" (31%), " welfare " (26%), "house and garden" (25%), "cleaning" (23%) , and "handicrafts" (11%).
