The number of sellers exceeds 40,000, and an average of 209 products are sold every minute. Amazon Canada is on fire

Recently, the Amazon News Center released an impact report on Amazon Canada. The report showed that as of August 31, 2021, the number of sellers on Amazon Canada exceeded 40,000, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%.

It is understood that as of August 31, 2021, Amazon Canada sellers sold nearly 110 million products in a year, an average of 209 products sold per minute. Among them, more than 4,000 sellers had annual sales exceeding US$100,000 (USD), a year-on-year increase of nearly 24%; and nearly 240 sellers had annual sales exceeding US$1 million for the first time, a year-on-year increase of more than 38%.

Marie-Claude Sauvé, head of Amazon Canada , said that in the past year, more than 50% of Canadian sellers have chosen Amazon's fulfillment service (FBA), storing their inventory in Amazon's warehouses, and Amazon is responsible for order sorting, packaging and transportation.

In addition, the report shows that since 2003, Amazon Canada has provided virtual shelf space for millions of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to reach global consumers and build their own brands and expand their businesses. Amazon Web Services (AWS) has helped tens of thousands of Canadian startups, customers and partners enrich their communities and the world.

The report highlights that in 2020, Amazon invested more than $700 million and hired more than 10,000 employees worldwide to protect sellers' stores from fraud by criminals and interference from bad sellers. Amazon said its investment has resulted in the lowest fraud rate in the e-commerce industry and protects sellers from frivolous and unsubstantiated claims.

Amazon pointed out that Amazon Canada has also launched the Intellectual Property Accelerator ( IP Accelerator) to help small and medium-sized business sellers obtain trademarks in Amazon stores and the broader market, protecting their own brands and dealing with infringement issues more easily and cost-effectively.

It is worth noting that Amazon Canada also announced that the distribution center opened in Quebec has been put into use to help sellers cope with the upcoming shopping season.
