eBay New Announcement - Shipping Company Peak Season Rates and Surcharge Updates

Recently, eBay released a new announcement stating that shipping companies will update peak season rates and surcharges.

USPS

The United States Postal Service (USPS) will temporarily increase shipping rates from October 3 to December 26, 2021. These peak season rate increases will apply wherever you purchase postage. However, sellers can still pay less than USPS retail rates by printing USPS postage using eBay labels.

The specific prices are as follows:

1. First class rates will increase by $0.30 per package .

2. Priority Mail Flat Rate and Priority Mail Express Flat Rate will increase by $0.75 per package .

3. Rate increases for Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, Parcel Select, and Retail Ground depend on the destination and size of the package:

FedEx

From November 1, 2021 to January 16, 2022, a surcharge will be charged per parcel delivery.

FedEx Express has confirmed that residential deliveries on the following FedEx services will be subject to a per-package surcharge between November 1, 2021 and January 16, 2022:

1. FedEx Ground per-package surcharge: No peak surcharge is charged for shipments.

2. FedEx Ground Economy per-package surcharge: A maximum surcharge of $1.50 will be charged on all shipments.

3. FedEx Express per-package surcharge: A maximum surcharge of $1.63 will be charged on all shipments.

Surcharge increase from October 4, 2021 to January 16, 2022

Additional peak season charges will be added to the standard rates assessed by FedEx for the following surcharges:

1. Additional handling charges will increase by $5.95 per package .

2. Oversized packages will add $30.00 per package .

3. Ground Unauthorized Shipment will add USD 350.00 per package.

These surcharges are most often charged when a package exceeds certain dimensions or uses non-standard packaging. Sellers can help avoid these surcharges by accurately measuring and entering the weight and dimensions of their packages when printing shipping labels.

UPS will not apply markups or peak surcharges during this peak season when sellers use eBay labels . Additionally, eBay recommends sellers use eBay's shipping calculator to calculate accurate shipping rates. Peak season rate increases will be updated in the shipping calculator.
