To support the dual circulation, Cainiao's largest smart logistics hub in Europe, Liege eHub in Belgium, is officially put into use

On November 8th, local time , Cainiao officially put into use the eWTP Hub in Liege , Belgium, the largest smart logistics hub in Europe . This logistics infrastructure project will further serve the two-way cross-border trade between China and Europe and help promote the dual circulation.

Cainiao Belgium Liege eWTP Hub (eHub for short) is an important project under the eWTP (World Electronic Trade Platform) cooperation framework. It is located at Liege Airport and covers an area of ​​about 220,000 square meters, of which nearly 120,000 square meters are warehouses. The first phase put into use more than 30,000 square meters, including air cargo terminals and distribution centers. It took more than a year to complete the construction and is independently operated by Cainiao.

Jean-Luc Klück, Minister of Budget, Finance, Airports and Infrastructure of the Wallonia Region, mentioned in his speech that the official opening of the Cainiao Liege ehub hub is an excellent proof of the world-renowned Liege Airport and local logistics capabilities. He looks forward to Cainiao achieving more success in the future, helping the development of the airport and local economy, and creating more social value.

The warehouse opening coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium. Zhang Chi, the charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Belgium, also said in a video speech: " Chinese and Belgian companies and employees have worked together to overcome the impact of the epidemic, ensure the completion of the project on schedule , and consolidate the status of Belgium and Wallonia as the European logistics hub. I believe that closer economic and trade exchanges and cooperation will enable the two peoples to further enhance mutual understanding, deepen China-Belgium friendship , and help China-Belgium ' Belt and Road ' cooperation to move forward steadily. "

Currently, Cainiao organizes about 18 cargo flights a week through the Liège eHub and operates about 60 trucks a day. During the Double 11 period, the number of cargo flights will exceed 23 per week , and the number of trucks is expected to double.

The hub is equipped with Cainiao's latest digital logistics technologies and equipment, such as the independently designed and developed lightweight handheld terminal LEMO PDA, precise radio frequency identification technology ( RFID) , digital customs clearance system, etc. , to further enhance the digital capabilities of cross-border logistics .

In the first seven months of this year , China's total import and export volume with the EU reached 2.96 trillion yuan, up 26.7% year-on-year, accounting for 13.9% of China's total foreign trade. Among them, the import and export amounts were 1.17 trillion yuan and 1.79 trillion yuan respectively.

Cainiao is also building distribution centers, overseas warehouses, terminal distribution networks and other infrastructure in various European countries, and building a car-class network to speed up the movement of goods. At present, Cainiao 's seven major distribution centers in Europe have been officially put into use. In Europe alone, there are more than 100,000 square meters of export overseas warehouses. At the same time, the car-class network covers more than 30 countries and has a transportation capacity of more than 80 vehicles/day. It is expected that by the end of this year, Cainiao will deploy more than 30,000 self-pickup points and self-pickup cabinets overseas.  

Through the above infrastructure, Cainiao has built an efficient cross-border network, which will be reused in more scenarios in the future.

In addition to the Liege hub, Cainiao has also built eHubs in countries and regions such as Hong Kong, China and Malaysia. On November 1, Cainiao's Kuala Lumpur eHub in Malaysia was officially put into operation one year after its trial operation . The hub is located next to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and covers an area of ​​more than 240,000 square meters, of which the logistics and warehousing area exceeds 100,000 square meters and is independently operated by Cainiao. Through the Hong Kong eHub , Cainiao sends 3-7 flights to the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand respectively every week , and shortens the delivery time to the above countries by up to 60% , so that consumers can receive packages in as fast as 3 days.

With the official launch of more Cainiao eHubs in the future , eHub will be able to achieve global linkage, effectively assisting Cainiao's import and export logistics to run at full speed, providing stable services for international small and medium-sized enterprise trade, and assisting the " domestic and international dual circulation ".
