Baby products have problems again, about 9,200 strollers have been recalled

Recently, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission ( CPSC) issued an announcement stating that approximately 9,200 strollers were recalled due to the risk of falling.

The announcement stated that the stroller being recalled is the Zoom 360 Ultralight Jogging Stroller from the Joovy brand. As for the reason for this recall, the CPSC pointed out that the front wheel bearing of the stroller may fail or fall off, posing a risk of falling and injury.

To date, CPSC has received 25 reports of restricted front wheel movement, including 12 reports of fork bearings wearing through the housing and falling off, causing one user to fall into the stroller and suffer bruises.

The recalled strollers were manufactured in China and sold on platforms such as Amazon. The sales period was mainly from May 2020 to December 2020, and the price was about US$250.

The specific SKUs are 8060, 8061, 8067 and 8069, with batch numbers between March 2020 (03-XX-20) and October 2020 (10-XX-20). The strollers are sold in black, blueberry, charcoal and red and weigh approximately 26 pounds. The stroller label on the inner leg contains the SKU and batch number. The front of the stroller is marked "Joovy" and the attachment on the bottom is marked "Zoom Ultralight."

It is understood that Joovy is a household daily necessities brand from the United States, focusing on infant and toddler products. It was founded in 2005. Its product line includes children's water bottles, children's toys, cribs, walkers, etc.

The recalled strollers are among the most popular jogging strollers. Other popular jogging strollers include BOB Gear Revolution Flex 3.0, Thule Urban Glide 2, Baby Trend Expedition, and Graco FastAction.

Exercise physiologists say that the design of jogging strollers is stronger, lighter, more flexible and more stable than ordinary strollers. Therefore, with jogging strollers, parents can exercise with their children.

In addition to jogging strollers, types of strollers include lightweight or umbrella strollers, double and triple strollers, etc.

Earlier, a market research report released by Technavio showed that the U.S. stroller market is expected to increase by US$95.38 million during 2021-2025.

The baby stroller market is booming, but there are occasional incidents of substandard baby strollers. Sellers of related categories must carefully check the safety of products and choose products with caution. The editor learned that in addition to wheel problems, in past cases, the reasons for recalls also included rope entanglement, support pad detachment, and accessories being pinched, etc.
