Moving towards transparency! Google has new online advertising policy

Google today announced its new online advertising policy , which will allow users to not only see who the advertiser is and why they are pushing relevant ads to users , but also see other ads that advertisers have recently placed on Google.

As government regulatory review progresses and the entire technology industry moves towards greater transparency and a greater focus on protecting consumer privacy, Google is also making a series of adjustments and improvements to its advertising business .

Last year, Google launched a platform advertiser identity verification program, requiring advertisers to disclose relevant information including identity documents , country of operation documents , and sales details . Google said that so far, the platform has verified the information of advertisers from more than 90 countries and regions around the world .

Now, Google will disclose more information about advertisers to users in its " About this ad " option . Users can learn more about advertisers by clicking the "i" icon on the page and view all ads placed by a specific advertiser on the platform in the past 30 days .

From a user ’s perspective , this is a practical feature . When consumers see a product on sale , they can use this option to learn about the brand and its other products. At the same time , since the advertiser’s historical ads will be exposed to users, this feature can also be used as a means to identify bad behavior in the advertising ecosystem.

Users can more easily report ads that violate platform policies, such as prohibited or restricted content, counterfeit goods, dangerous products, abuse, ads that violate interest-based policies , ads that deceive users , and ads that do not comply with local laws and regulations , etc.

In addition , Google also announced some other initiatives in the platform advertising field , including integrating ad blocking functions into the Chrome browser, imposing new restrictions on political ad targeting, and abandoning third-party cookies ( a plan that has been postponed) .

It is reported that more than 30 million users interact with Google's advertising menu every day . Advertising business is indeed an important source of income for industry giants such as Google and Facebook. With the increasing awareness of privacy protection and the continuous improvement of all aspects of society, it is believed that the advertising business will become more mature and transparent in the future.
